Professional & Academic Goals

Adult Education

As I continue to pursue my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Adult Education, I endeavor to reach specific goals in the Adult Education field of study. I believe that we are all lifelong learners. It will always be my main goal to remain both a teacher and more importantly a student. I have a true niche and passion for technology and education as well planning, coordinating, and implementation. That passion is what drives me to have the earnest desire to work with special groups of students such as distant learners and "emerging" adult students. It is my overall goal to gain knowledge, participate in professional development, and acquire specific technical skills to fuse the tenets of education and technology in order to create continued progression and overall growth within all levels of education especially Adult Education. The emerging adult (ages 17-20) are lacking in the areas of motivation, accountability, and basic soft skills. As I continue my work with Tuskegee University, it has been one of goals to reach these students and offer programming that is supported by data and empirical research.

My goals include:

1. Earn a PhD in Adult Education with a main  focus on effectively incorporating technology and reaching adult education distance learners as well as show how technology has impacted education as a whole

2. Explore the concepts and ideas behind individual learning styles and how they affect learning, studying, and overall professional/academic productivity

3. Bridging the gap between secondary students and those entering adulthood by teaching basic life skills and introducing education alternatives

4. Become a professor at a four year institution and/or work with distance learning, recruitment, and/or retention efforts on the community college level

5. Secure the opportunity to teach online/distance courses

6. Conduct extensive empirical research
