 Media Interest

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.  ― Albert Einstein

Aside from fusing education and technology, in my spare time I enjoy web designing, marketing, PR consulting, and syncing branding opportunities. In my recent venture, I am the media specialist and web designer for a new non profit in the black belt area of Alabama. The Black Belt Community Development Coalition has served as an excellent way to enhance my professional development.

In the past, I have created blogs, wikispaces, and sample classroom websites. Currently, I even maintain a Twitter account entitled TUTeenTalk which stemmed from the Teen Talk articles I write for the local newspaper in Bullock County, AL.

Below are artifacts that support my media, technology integration, and website building interest.

The Black Belt Community Development Coalition is a non-profit organization that aims to provide specific services to citizens in the black belt area of Alabama. Founded by an Alabama native, Keshee Dozier Smith, in the city of Selma, AL. Please follow the link below to view the website in which I created..

TU TeenTalk is an active twitter account which stemmed from the Teen Talk articles that I write for the Union Springs Herald in Union Springs, AL.

The account is used to reach teens in the black belt county offering a way to stay connected, recieve relevant information, promote events and programming, and link students to one another through an excellent networking tool.

Effecetively incorporating technology tools and devices into education is becoming more and more prevalent. Integrating technology into teaching can be tricky and very challenging. There are so many tools, devices, and web based assistance for administering lessons. Educators must take an active role in integrating technolgy in the classroom as a supplemental aid and NOT a replacement tool for teaching.

Using technolgy in the classroom has some amazing benefits. There are several free web based technology tools that can enhance the overall learning and teaching experience. This wikispace was designed to explain how to use those tools and incorporate them in the classroom. Some examples are the flipped classroom, PowToon, and Prezi.

This blog is a collection of reflections from the modules in my Computer-Based Technology Instruction course at Auburn University Montgomery in the Masters of Education in Instructional Technology program. I have insightfully given in-depth analysis of prompts provided to me focusing on computer based instructional technology and how it relates to student learning.

If used correctly and implemented with great thought, gaming can be a great way to teach lessons and relay concepts. The education gaming blog is reflective wrting on varying gaming tools as well as examples of what gaming in the classroom looks like.
